Facing a serious illness often raises questions of meaning, faith, and legacy. LifeCare's chaplains and spiritual counselors offer support tailored to each person's beliefs and preferences — for people of any faith or none, always on their own terms.
What spiritual care can include
- Companionship and a calm, listening presence
- Conversations about meaning, hope, fear, and forgiveness
- Prayer, scripture, or ritual, when the patient wants them
- Help reflecting on a life story and what the patient wants to leave behind
- Coordination with the patient's own clergy or faith community
- Support for family members, before and after a loss
Respecting every belief
Spiritual care is never about persuading anyone. Our chaplains follow the patient's lead, whether that means religious practice, quiet reflection, or simply a person to talk with. A patient or family can also decline spiritual care at any time.
Part of the whole team
Chaplains work alongside our nurses, social workers, and bereavement counselors, so emotional, spiritual, and medical needs are cared for together. Spiritual care is part of the hospice benefit for patients covered by Medicare, Nevada Medicaid, and many private insurance plans.
