Personal care assistance

Hospice aides help with bathing, dressing, and daily tasks, easing the load on family caregivers.

Simple daily care can become difficult during a serious illness — for the patient and for the family members helping them. LifeCare's certified nursing assistants and home health aides provide hands-on personal care that protects comfort and dignity.

How hospice aides help

  • Bathing and personal hygiene
  • Dressing, grooming, and skin care
  • Help with repositioning and moving safely
  • Changing bed linens and keeping the patient's space comfortable
  • Letting the nurse know about any change in comfort or condition

Support for family caregivers

Hospice aides do more than complete tasks: they give family caregivers time to rest and recharge. Our nurses also teach families how to help with daily care safely, and hospice volunteers can give caregivers a break.

Hospice aides visit on a schedule set in the care plan. Hospice does not provide 24-hour live-in care, but visits can be increased when needs change, and a hospice nurse is on call around the clock. For short-term relief, respite care offers a brief inpatient stay so family caregivers can rest.

Wherever the patient lives

Aides visit patients at home, in a family member's home, in assisted-living and skilled-nursing facilities, and in group homes. Personal care is part of the hospice benefit covered by Medicare, Nevada Medicaid, and many private insurance plans.
