Bereavement support
Grief support for families for up to thirteen months after a loss.
Grief doesn't end when hospice care does. LifeCare's bereavement support specialists continue to care for family members and caregivers for up to thirteen months after a loss.
How we support grieving families
- One-on-one support from a bereavement counselor
- Support groups, where families can connect with others who understand
- Check-in calls throughout the first year and beyond
- Guidance on what to expect from grief and how to care for yourself
- Referrals to community resources when additional support would help
Support that starts before a loss
Bereavement care begins while the patient is still in hospice. Our social workers and chaplains help families prepare for what lies ahead, so that the transition to grief support feels familiar rather than sudden.
For the whole family
Grief looks different for everyone — spouses, adult children, grandchildren, and close friends may each need something different. Our team meets each person where they are, at their own pace.
Bereavement support is part of the hospice benefit, offered to the families of LifeCare patients at no extra cost.
